MSP430G2553: How to make MSP430 supporting both SMbus and PMbus

Part Number: MSP430G2553
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430WARE, MSP-PMBUS, MSP430-SMBUS

Dear Experts

My customer is looking for a MSP430 to support both SMbus and PMbus.

They need a SMbus to PMbus bridge.

I saw the document on our website about how to make MSP430 support PMbus.

How about SMbus?

Which MSP430 can implement both and do we have the firmware to support it?

Thank you.

  • Hi Jefferey,

MSP430-SMBUS and MSP-PMBUS Libraries are both provided as a part of MSP430Ware, with examples and documentation for both the G2xx3 and FR59xx devices that can be easily migrated to other MSP430 derivatives with similar pin availability, memory space, and timer capability. Two separate I2C peripherals are preferred since the MSP430 should act as a SMbus slave and PMbus master.

    Regards,
    Ryan
