MSP430G2001: MSP430G2001

Part Number: MSP430G2001

New to this product (MSP-EXP430G2 LaunchPad Development Kit, Rev 1.5 ) .

Can the 10-pin female connectors on the bottom of the board be removed (break-off or unsolder?).  Need to have the board lay flat on the 4 rubber corners.

  • Hi Richard,

The 10-pin female connectors on the bottom is the same one which is male connectors on the top. Of cause you can remove this if you have space limitation. But you may need to use another connector or connect the bonding pad directly.

  • Wei,

Thank you for your reply.  You mention I can remove the connectors.....

Can I remove just the bottom "female" or do I have to remove the entire male/female connector ?

If I have to remove the entire male/female connector.....can I unsolder each one individually "or" do I have to unsolder all ten at the same time....which I don't know if I can ?

If you say that I can do just one at a time, will the male connector on the bottom.....break-away from the adjacent male connector ?

What I need to do is have 6 Male connectors on top without any female connectors on the bottom.

In the website below, if you could scroll down to the paragraph named "Step 3: Solder the barometric pressure sensor breakout board to the MSP430 Launchpad" , the 1st photo below the words Step 3 is what I am trying to do.

Please forgive me for these very basic questions.....I am a "newbie" to circuit boards.

    Thank you for your assistance.

    Richard

  • The header is one single part - the male and the female part are one physical unit. You can desolder the whole part by cutting the male part close to the board, desolder it by pulling the female part out and then solder a clean new male only header into the holes. Or you go the dirty way by just cutting the female part on the bottom away.
  • Thank you Dennis. That is exactly what I needed to know. Question fully resolved. Thank you for sharing your "knowledge" and time to help others.
