MSP430F5527: What is the expected behaviour when the VCORE is set too low?

I've been working through some issues with a product and discovered the VCORE had not been set properly to level 2.

This leaves me wondering whether what I'm seeing is related to VCORE being too low or not.

What is the expected behaviour of the micro when VCORE is set too low? Does it crash and not recover? Does it reset? Something else?

Please use the appropriate VCORE level for your device. There might be unexpected behavior if this is not done properly.

As Lukas Badura says, if you run the chip out of spec, all bets are off.

I suspect it's analogous to running with too high a clock for your voltage level. I (ahem) tried that once on an F2; what I saw was erratic execution -- random jumps to nowhere, spontaneous register changes, that sort of thing. It wasn't as simple as resetting or locking up.
