MSP430F2101: MSP430F2001

Part Number: MSP430F2101
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430WARE

Dear Sir,

We are not able to program msp430 by  using FET PRO430. Earlier it was working. While going through the TI forum i have understood that MSP FET430UIF, version 3.07 is not compatible with CCS V4. By using ver 3.07, we are not able to do debug via CCSV4.

I have downgraded the MSP FET430UIF to V2 , after that i tried to do debug by using CCS V4, at that time license issue came. Our CCS V4 is already licensed.  But i am not able to debug by using CCV4 and FET430UIF V2

I tried to program by using FET PRO430,

JTAG COMMUNICATION INITIALIZATION FAILED message has come

Thanks & Regards,

Hemantha Kumara N K

  • Hello,

    A few questions here.

    1. Is this a custom board or a TI Target board you are suing?
    2. Are you using the default able that came with the MSP-FET430UIF?
    3. Are you using full JTAG (4-wire) or SPI-By-Wire (SBW / 2 wire JTAG)?
    4. Have you tried downloading the latest version of CCS to update the MSP-FET430UIF Drivers?

In accordance tot he last question, as of CCSv7, CCS no longer requires a license and is free for end users. Please see the CCS webpage (http:/.../CCSTUDIO) for latest download, or the following web page for previous version, as well as free licensing. (http:/.../Download_CCS)
  • 1.How many break points can give through CCSV4?
    2. where we will get a sample I2C master code ?

    Regards,
    Hemantha
  • Hello,

Hardware breakpoints are determined by the EEM on the device. For most MAP430s, there are two HW breakpoints available. Please check the device specific datasheet for exactly what is available for your device. CCS can do a large amount of SW breakpoints. I am  not aware if limitations of SW breakpoints pertinent to CCS version; however, CCSv5 is the earliest I've used. you would have to check the CCSv4 User guide for more information.

For code examples, they are available within MSP430Ware found within TI Resource Explorer. TI Resource explorer can be found within CCS or at dev.ti.com. Once there, please take the following path.  TI Resource Explorer -> Software -. MSP430Ware -> Devices -> MSP430F2xxx -> Peripheral Examples -> Register Level

  • Thanks alot JH. Really helps in my design.
