MSP430I2030: Analog min/max level at ADC24

Part Number: MSP430I2030

I'm using the SD24 internal voltage reference and a GAIN adjustment of 2. At the table 5-19 there is the VSD24REF described with TYP: 1.158V.

At note (2) from table 5-21 is the full- scale range defind as follows:VFSR+ = +VREF/GAIN and VFSR- = -VREF/GAIN;

The range with my adjustment is: -0,579  .. +0,579V

My question: which analog value are equal to 8000hex and 7FFFhex?

I'm a little bit confused because the differential input range for specified performance ist described as +- 464mV

  • Hi,

    For the analog values that correspond to 8000hex and 7FFFhex, please see Table 13-1 of the the device family's User's Guide. Those values correspond to +/- FSR.

    The note in the datasheet indicates that if you are using an external reference voltage (which may be less than the internal one), then you should not exceed 80% of the FSR. Since you are using the internal reference voltage, it is recommended that you not exceed the range of -0.579 to +0.579. However, the max and min digital output values will correspond to +/- 464mV. So, you should never quite be hitting the max and min values.

    Regards,
    Nathan
