MSP430FR6922: R33 Termination

Part Number: MSP430FR6922

Customer neglected to terminate MSP430FR6922 R33 pin to DVSS or DVCC per data sheet recommendation.

If they are not using the LCD controller, will not connecting this pin increase current consumption?

If they are required to terminate the pin, would you suggest a pull up or pull down?  What value?

Regards,
Mark

  • Mark,

As seen in the datasheet, when not used, R33/LCDCAP should be tied to either supply. A pull up/down is not needed as it is recommended to tie directly to supply. If their fix is to do so, then I would suggest a low resistance (strong) to whichever supply is convenient for them . I'm not sure of the power difference of either, but directly tied to ground would be my suggestion for lowest power.

As far as not terminated is concerned, its now a floating analog I/O. Yes, it could draw more current. How much? Not sure as it would depend on the system and board design as its a floating pin.
  • Thank you.

    Regards,
    Mark
