Dear,

I am interested in evaluating the current consumption of your low-power microcontrollers under different operating modes (i.e. different operating voltages and frequencies) and employing different embedded peripherals. I was wondering if you have any evaluation board or development kit for such a purpose. In such a board, it should be possible to easily measure the current consumption of (only) the microcontroller, not of other potential devices included in the board.

  • Some new (for examle FR4133) Launchpad boards have eZ-FET Lite with Energy trace that should give precise peripheral current. Energy trace can work also out of CCS. 43oh.com/.../
  • Hi Ferran,

    It would be helpful to know more details about the application so we can best direct you to the correct device. As has mentioned, some of our devices have a built-in Energy Trace technology that allows you to measure the current of each peripheral.

    A target board can be obtained for all of our MSP430 devices. For example, when on the MSP430F2001 product page, you can select the "Tools and Software" tab. This will take you to a page that provides a list of the available design kit and evaluation modules for the respective MSP430. You can select from any of the target development boards to achieve what you're describing above.

    Finally, these numbers can also be found in the respective MSP430's datasheet.

    G2 LP is stone age product, with old and slow, not updatable (and not suported) eZ-FET on board. I don't understand at all why TI still selling this. eZ-FET Lite can debug/program all TI SBW devices (F2001 DIP also) and I don't understand why is so hard (for TI) to update this old board with new eZ-FET Lite. For average engineer and average Eagle user, this can be done in one working day.
