Feature request: MSP430 launchpad with FCC + RoHS compliance

Hi,

I could not find MSP430 Launchpad board with FCC + RoHS compliance, aimed for resale.

Motivation: I would like to use a pre-build board to base my SW on with no need for PCB manufacturing and certification, only case re-assembly, so I will be able to focus on SW side with no electrical HW engineering change.

There are probably certifications for the MSP 430 MCU only; I refer to the complete launchpad PCB, for a minimal HW prototyping, probably for an additional fee.

If it is not at TI scope, a comment clarifying it is welcomed too.

    Any MSP430 with GPIO should do.

    I could do with any TI launchpad with USB and GPIO support; I have aimed MSP430/MSP432 since it looked to me the simplest option (no network stack), therefore it should have the minimal HW footprint.

    If I get it right any MSP430/MSP432 has GPIO support.

    I could not see RoHS or "X Pb" label on the PCB itself, though. Maybe it is at the backward part which is omitted from the video.
    I would like to have a pre-soldered lower pins rows model, if available.

    LaunchPads (and any EVMs from TI) are for evaluation purposes only.

    They are not intended for use in an end product.

    Schematics and hardware may be used as reference for a customer system. There is a little sheet included in the box for the launchpad and with any EVM sold by TI - Terms and Conditions for Evaluation  Modules (SZZC019F) detailing this explicitly.

    That being said, you are free to take the layout and schematic and build your own. At that point the design is yours and you are responsible for any testing and validation that will need to be done.      We do not test these boards more than is needed to sell working boards, meet global regulations, and finally meet certain internal performance metrics . These are likely not the same conditions that      your system will face.

    I have suspected that. This means that even if I do get a board with "RoHS/FCC/CE compliance certification", I will not be able to resale it.

    This is why I have marked "Feature request" at the title - if this option does not exist, will you consider adding such a new product?


    I am after "resaleable final product" boards based on either:


    MSP-EXP432E401Y
    MSP-EXP432P401R


    Motivation: the development in this flow is O(1) instead of O(n):

    Instead of all your customers having to do their board customization, you may offer 1 "Commodity of the shelf COTS" board which may be sufficient for a significant portion of your SW customers.
    Even though the net price of the superset in this board will be larger than any customized board, you will have a much easier access to the inventory, thus reducing the effective price.

    The current ~13$ price of the evaluation board is quite affordable to most interesting projects, IMHO. It will probably cost slightly more due to the additional production effort.

    In addition, the ecosystem and your excellent production line can verify and confirm this product, instead of having each customer doing it by itself, similar to open source in SW.


    If you have no roadmap for such a product, I will appreciate it if you explicitly mention it, to ease my confusion.

    MSP-EXP432E401Y is a very impressive development kit.

    What is missing for the MSP-EXP432E401Y HW to be FCC/ CE compliant ? Its features and RoHS compliant status makes it a great candidate.

    Even if you do not plan to certify it, understanding the gaps will help creating a derivative product with external certification.
    A pointer to FCC/CE tests results, even if not passed, may help derivative design to learn from the reference design results.

    A pointer to MSP-EXP432E401Y RoHS certification document will assist in better integration at a derived product.
