MSP430F479: Exact values of SD16GAINx gain values

Part Number: MSP430F479

Team,

we specify the min/typ/max values of SD16GAINx in our datasheet. Theoreticllay 1,2,4,8,16,32.
My customer needs the exact value in their application. They measure each units exact gain and offset during production.

Are these values measured at TI and are they available in a special register to be read?

They are actually interested in the relation of the gain steps and offset to each other, the absolute value is of second interest.

Thanks!

  • Hello,

Wouldn't this just be measuring an input signal at a GAIN = 1 and reading the ADC result, and then comparing the result to the actual input? Then, increasing the GAIN and comparing how much the ADC result increased? At a higher level, isn't that what Gain and Phase calibration does? For example, scaling factors are used to scale the ADC result (which would inherently include the Gain error) to a human value. These scaling factors would differ slightly across different devices due to different gain, offset, reference, etc. variation.

Gain error is discussed in the Understanding Data Converters app note.

    Regards,

    James
