MSP430FR6989: No magnetic water meter

Part Number: MSP430FR6989
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F427, MSP430FR4133

I would like to ask you three questions

1. How can the design of three LC sensors for the MSP430FR6989 of TI achieve anti-magnet interference

2. Compared with MSP430F427 or MSP430FR6989, is there an MCU with low resource, pin at 48PIN, but also with internal ESI function

3. Whether TI has integrated ESI detected chip, rather than integrated into MCU

thank you

  • Hello,
    1. The latest document on W-Meter designs with MSP430 is tidu517a.pdf, but this is using an external pulse generator . It is a reference design with MSP430FR4133. An older one, using ESI is slaa639.pdf.
As far as I could see, there are no specific recommendations on how to handle the presence of a permanent magnet. Probably the use of the impact on the oscillation signal, would be one of the options, to address this method of tampering.
    2. There are no other devices with a built-in scan interface, other then the sub-derivatives of the devices you mentioned.
    3. I assume you're whether there is some kind of a ESI only sensor device, without CPU. No, there are only MSP430 derivatives with Scan Interface integrated.

    Best regards
    Peter
  • Hi
    Thanks a lots.
  • Hello,
is there anything else we can do for you, related to this topic? If not, please close the thread. Many thanks in advance.
