MSP430F6733A: internal REFO specification at 3.3V

Hi Experts,

REFO spec is defined as below.

We want to use MSP430F67x at 3.3V while the spec is defined at 3.0V. Can we consider even at VCC = 3.3 V, fREFO max is +-1.5%?

And if they use the temperature range from -20 to 80, the dfREFO becomes 1% = 0.01 * (80 – (-20)). Can we consider that the total +-2.5%(=1.5+1.0) is the tolerance for fREFO?

Hey Hisao,

I don't think we can make that gaurantee. Spec clearly shows +-1.5% at exactly 3V and 25C. Then there are adjustments over temp and voltage that we would need to account for in your example.

I think we should stick with the garunteed +-3.5% in the line above that is valid over the full temperature and voltage range.

Is there a critical difference for the customer between +-2.5% and +-3.5%?

Thank you for your prompt reply.
We do not need to guarantee the spec at 3.3V. We want to know the max data for 3.3V if you have. 3.5% might be not acceptable. 2.5% is still challengeing but better than 3.5%.

Hey Uchikoshi,

Unfortunantly, we cant guarantee better than 3.5% for these conditions. To have a more stable clock they should continue to use an external xtal source.
