BOOSTXL-K350QVG-S1: Able to develop on another microcontroller?

Part Number: BOOSTXL-K350QVG-S1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSPWARE,

I am doing a design project for school and I have been doing research on how this part works and what software is necessary to implement it on a microcontroller. My team already has selected the microcontroller we need which is an AT32UC3A3256 and I am wondering if there is any way to implement the BOOSTXL-K350QVG-S1 LCD on that micro instead of the others recommended by TI. I also want to know if the MSPWare graphic libraries will still be available for use on this other microcontroller. Thanks

  • Hi Kyle,

BOOSTXL-K350QVG-S1 is boostpack for TI Launchpad. We recommend to use TI MCU, and TI provides code examples based on MSP430 and MSP432. Thanks.

    Regards,
    Ling

  • The hardware, of course, will work on any mcu, but boosterpacks are specifically for the TI ecosystem. And they only support their MCU's.

I suggest you get an MSP432P401 launchpad with the kentec and use that as a display controller. You can use serial or SPI to talk to your dark-side MCU.

Sparkfun has a number of touchscreens that might be easier to interface with a generic MCU.
