CCS/BOOSTXL-K350QVG-S1: Looking for the demo code that is not included in the EVM

Part Number: BOOSTXL-K350QVG-S1

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi,

Is there example code for using this display with the MSP-EXP432P401R. There are hints that turn up on web searches but all lead to dead ends. I've installed simplelink_msp432p4_sdk_3_10_00_08 following a link in another 'resolved' question but nothing. It has been an exceedingly frustrating 2 hours (including updating and 'fixing' TIREX). If I'd looked for the code before purchasing I wouldn't have bought the EVM. I gave up on this a year ago for the same reason but recently found the EVM and thought I'd have another bash.

Cheers, John L.

  • Hi Ling,

Thank you, that looks promising. I have imported the example into CCS and in the project explorer pane have "MSP-EXP432P401R_GrlibExample". If I attempt to build this (right-click->Build Project) nothing happens; no warnings, no messages of any kind. I have never experienced this in CCS before so I don't know where to begin looking for the reason. Any hints will be appreciated.

    Cheers, John L.
  • OK, I think I need to install the MSP432 toolchain. Help->Install Code Generation Compiler tools: All sites filtered by MSP432 gives MSP432 toolchain and TI Emulators, I selected both and after a while of installing I got a message that there was a problem, details:
An error occurred while collecting items to be installed

I get messages like this whenever I try to install updates. Should I start a new topic for this?

I am using CCS Version: 8.0.0.00016 on Win10.

    Cheers, John L.

  • Hi John,

Please update your CCS version. The latest version is 9.0

  • Hi Ling,
Just before I do that; will all my existing MSP430 projects still work with V9?
    Cheers, David L.
  • Hi John,

Yes. And you don't have to uninstall ccs8 to install ccs9. ccs9 can be installed in another folder.

  • Hi Ling,
Much installing, restarting and updating later... I attempted to import the project using the automatic search facility and got this message:
    See details below...
Import failed for project 'MSP-EXP432P401R_GrlibExample' because its meta-data cannot be interpreted. Please contact support.

  • Hi John,

Please search e2e to see if this issue was reported and solved by others. If not, please close this post and create a new one, thanks.

  • Hi Ling,

The nearest answer is shown below. That was the next thing on my list to try anyway. I'll mark this as solved because I don't think there is anything more you can do.

    Thank you for trying.

    Cheers, John L.

"I believe that due to the legacy nature of these examples that you will need to bring in the files manually instead of importing the project. These have not been maintained with the introduction of the Captivate solution.

    Regards,
    Chris"
