MSP430I2040: Calibration error in using Current Source

Customer is evaluate demo board for TIDM-SERVER-PWR-MON, and do calibration by using TI GUI.

Their Power Supply is 2 channel DC output: one is voltage source and another is current source.

The GUI voltage calibration is ok when input by voltage source, however GUI current calibration is abnormal when input by current source, the GUI current value always show 0.8A around no matter how much real current it is.

Customer want to know if TI GUI can accept calibration operation in using Current Source? If no, how suggestion method for they do the calibration?

Hello Terry,

Looking through TIDU454, there seems to be several known issues related to calibration. Perhaps the 0.8A value is a DC offset, but according to TIDU454, the DC offset values cannot be written to the EVM with the calibration software.

This design uses our legacy IAR-based Energy library and is no longer recommended for new designs. Thus, support is very limited moving forward. My recommendation would be to download and install the Energy Measurement Design Center (EMDC) GUI and software library which supports both CCS and IAR and the EVM430-i2040S. Using the EMDC GUI, you can use our pre-configured, pre-calibrated EMDC projects and accompanying binaries to start measuring voltage, current, power, etc. very quickly.
