Hello, TI's USS technical expert, I encountered the following problems during the use of EVM430-FR6047:

1. Capture the ADC and the waveform is qualified under the condition that the water inside the pipe is full and not flowing, as shown in the following figure:

2. When the water in the pipe is flowing at 50LPM, the ADC capture waveform is not qualified, as shown in the following figure:

3, Supplementary Description: When the water in the pipe flow to 5LPM, the ADC capture waveform is also qualified, I do not know where the problem?

Hi Hermen,

It's possible that at the higher flow rate, you are getting air bubbles in your pipe. These will attenuate your signal. If you have a closed recirculation system, you might try first boiling the water and letting it cool before circulating it. This should reduce dissolved gas in your water. Are you testing with a recirculation pump or with a utilities water supply?

I'm using a circulating pump in the lab;

But it seems unrealistic to use the water first to boil it and then cool it, and then recycle it, because it is not allowed to do so when it is actually used;

Actually, I always thought USS_LIB didn't support high flow rates;

This question bothered me for a long time, at first I thought it was the USS_DC configuration problem, is there any other way?

Hi Hermen,

I'm assuming you're using the same configuration for both the flow and no flow cases above. Something about the way you've setup your flow testing might also be causing a problem. Can you post a picture of your pipe in your flow test setup?

We are also facing the same issue and have a similar setup like yours.

Hi Divya:

All I can say is that this is the fatal drawback of ultrasonic sensors, and I have switched to other sensing options.

Hi Hermen,

It's important that the pipe in your test setup be in a vertical orientation. If you have it oriented horizontally, it's likely that air in your pipe will cause problems.
