Hello ,

I have a quick question. Is their a way to  receive a multiple bytes without knowing how many they are through  UART .and retransmit all of these bytes

  • i wrote the following code in the main function but i didn't receive the whole characters

    what i missed please?

    while(1){

    unsigned char x;
    char *receive;
    unsigned int i;
    while (!(UCA0IFG&UCRXIFG)); // USCI_A0 RX buffer ready?
    {
    receive = (char*)malloc(x* sizeof(char) ); /* allocating memory dynamically */

    for (i=0; i<x;i++){
    receive[i]=UCA0RXBUF;
    // free(receive);
    }}
    while(!(UCA0IFG&UCTXIFG));{
    for (i=0; i<x;i++){
    UCA0TXBUF=receive[i];}

    }
    free(receive);

    }

  • Hi

    Two suggestions here:

    1. make a protocol and put the received data length inside .

    2. use receive interrupt (For more detail operation you can refer

  • Hi Ali,

    You can receive every single byte and transmit that byte immediately.

  • Hi Gary,

    i wrote the following code in the main loop and i checked the received data i received all of them correctly

    while(1){

    char *receive;
    unsigned int i;

    receive = (char*)malloc(120); /* allocating memory dynamically */
    while (!(UCA0IFG&UCRXIFG)); // USCI_A0 RX buffer ready?
    {

    for (i=0; i<120;i++){
    while (!(UCA0IFG&UCRXIFG)); // USCI_A0 RX buffer ready?
    receive[i]=UCA0RXBUF;

    }

    but when i tried to re-transmit what i received, the code transmit the data more than one time and sometimes with a missing bytes

    the transmit code as following

    #if defined(__TI_COMPILER_VERSION__) || defined(__IAR_SYSTEMS_ICC__)
    #pragma vector=USCI_A0_VECTOR
    __interrupt void USCI_A0_ISR(void)
    #elif defined(__GNUC__)
    void __attribute__ ((interrupt(USCI_A0_VECTOR))) USCI_A0_ISR (void)
    #else
    #error Compiler not supported!
    #endif
    {

    char *receive1;
    unsigned int n;

    receive1 = (char*)malloc(120); /* allocating memory dynamically */
    while (!(UCA0IFG&UCTXIFG)); // USCI_A0 TX buffer ready?
    {

    for (n=0; n<120;n++){
    while (!(UCA0IFG&UCTXIFG)); // USCI_A0 TX buffer ready?
    UCA0TXBUF=receive1[n];

    }

    }

    }
