MSP-EXP430FR2311: MSP430FR2311IPW20

Part Number: MSP-EXP430FR2311
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430FR2311

Hi, we have the MSP-EXP430FR2311 and we were wandering what the indication of the prefixed 'x' in "xFR2311" on the package means?

It is not mentioned in the documentation.

regards,

Laurent

  • Laurent,

The 'x' in front of the device ID indicates that it is silicon that was manufactured before the product was released to market. It has the same performance as the devices with 'MSP' in front of the device ID; however it is not recommended that customers go to production with pre-RTM silicon.

The device on your launchpad still meets all specifications outlined in the datasheet for the MSP430FR2311 thus you can still conduct testing and characterization with no issues.

This information is given in the device's datasheet in the "Device Nomenclature" section (Section 8.2).

    Best regards,

    Matt
