MSP-FET: Programming Flash devices during Assembly Line Functional Test

Part Number: MSP-FET

MSP430 Friends and Family,

We are interested in having the newer (black, micro USB) MSP-FET programmer Flash our devices during functional test (like we always have), but on our new platform, which will use LabWindows/CVI (it’s written in C).

We currently have three series we’re looking to support (listed in order of priority)

    1. CCxxxx (we’re switching everything over slowly) – using any CC dev board to program
    1. 2955 (Our “3.x”, newer devices) – using re-programmed MSP-FET430UIF’s to program
    1. 2272 (Our “2.x”, older devices) – using re-programmed MSP-FET430UIF’s to program

Is it possible to handle this all through my new software and the correct library?  We believe while this is the case for the MSP430 variants listed, it will unfortunately not support the CCxxxx devices which are programmed using SmartRF and accompanying hardware.

What’s our recommendation?  MSP-FET for MSPs and SmartRF for CC Wireless?

TY,

CY

  • Hi Chris,

Unfortunately I have no experience using LabWindows/CVI so I cannot speak to its ability to support the MSP430 programmers. This may be something that you will want to contact their SW support team for.

Your understanding of the HW needed to program the various parts is correct though, you will need the MSP-FET to program the MSP430 MCUs and the dedicated CCxxxx programmer for those MCUs.

    Best regards,

    Matt
