I may not have been clear about my concerns...   I can program 1 chip at a time. What I need is a way to debug code for a MSP430G2553  while in the production  board. I am using the TSSOP 28 pin configuration, but could use the 32-QFN.  Can I i use the TI CCS  to do this?

Yes, you can debug MSP430 with CCS, but it has no relationship with the debugger and package.

CCS support all MSP430 with any package.

I'm still not being clear (but a real bother). I have a PCB with components.  The circuitry is designed to use an MSP430G2553. I want to debug the software (and check the PCB) with the PCB connected. Obviously, I can't solder the processor into the board  and still use CCS. I need some interface between CCS and the PCB where CCS can control the running of the software (break points, register status, etc).

Hi,

I get it, so you want to know how to connect MSP430 with debugger. You need to connect them together through JTAG(4 pin) or SBW(2 pin)  and GND, 3V3. 

The documents what you want. One tells you how to connect MSP430 with debugger. And another one tells you how to which debugger you can choose, and how to connect it to CCS.
