MSP-FET430UIF: MSP-FET430UIF Bricked - Need Firmware HEX File

Part Number: MSP-FET430UIF

Hello.

I have an MSP-FET430UIF pod with V1.4a hardware.  The pod has been "bricked" or messed up during a previous firmware upgrade from within a development tool (don't remember which tool).

The point is that the pod is now dead.  I assume I could simply reprogram the MSP430F1612 microcontroller in the dead pod if I have another working pod (which I do).  I would simply reprogram the processor on the dead pod board just as if it were any other MSP430 target board we would develop in-house.  The only problem is I need the firmware HEX file for the FET430UIF pod.

I have another working FET430 programmer, and I know how to wire between the working pod and the 7-PIN header on the dead pod board.  I just need the appropriate firmware file (HEX file) for the V1.4a pod.  I would prefer firmware version 3.04.01.000 as this mates nicely with my PC application programming tool (I now use Elprotronics FETPro 430), but I will take any version 3.xx that is available.

Please can someone at TI or other E2E member point me to this HEX file.

Thank you.

  • Hi Paul,

I will check internally and get back on this.

  • Hi Paul,

Attached the files in <uif_firmware bin.zip>.

You should program the MSP430UIF-FET in this order:

    1. SafeCore.txt
    2. UifBiosCore.txt
    3. UifHal.txt

This could be done using MSPFlasher or Uniflash.

  • Thank you Srinivas.

I think we are on the right track with the firmware you provided, but the pod still doesn't work correctly.  Maybe there is just something else wrong with it ???

Previously the pod was completely dead.  No LEDs would light, and it wasn't recognized by PC when plugged in.

After reprogramming with the firmware you provided, the pod seems to have SOME life again.  Now when you plug the pod into the PC, the greed LED lights (like it used to), and you get a USB "connect" sound.  So I assume the device has linked up with the PC driver.  However, within 2 or 3 seconds, the PC then gives the USB "disconnect" sound (this is not normal).  The pod still shows up in device manager, but I cannot access it with any application software.  Again, I'm using Elprotronic FETPro430.  This PC application works fine with my other working pod.

Is there a newer driver required to match with this version of firmware you provided?  What version of UIF firmware did you provide?

    Paul

  • Hi Paul,

SW team told me the version is 3.4.1.0  which is what you had asked for. Is it possible for you to specify the SW version of MSP-430 FET UIF to Elprotronic FETPro430. It is not clear from the image at https://www.elprotronic.com/products/fet-pro-430-lite
