Hello team,

my name is rajesh thesiya and working as senior hardware design in VVDN technologies.

I have the requirement of a cap sense ic requirement for waterproof application.

we are planning to use MSP430FR2512 ic for our application but we need Below Query

1) is this ic output is toggle functionalities? we must need toggle Function

2) is this ic is waterproof means false touch is not detected when water is applied?

    Hi rajesh,

    thanks for asking for information, happy to help out.

    As you can see in the datasheet, most of the device pin are multiplexed for different functionality. .

    Regarding the waterproof solution, please have a look in the following link which explains based on a reference design the implementation.

    Please keep  in mind, that a waterproof solution depends very much on the different parameters, like layout, dimensions, overlay etc.

    I would also recommend to have a view into the MSP430FR2522 device which provides 8x capacitive touch IO's.

    Can you tell more about the application? How many electrodes would you need, what are the dimensions?

    I would also recommend having a view into the MSP430FR2522 device which provides 8x capacitive touch IO's.

    Rajesh---> we only need only one IO's for on/off the device 

    Can you tell me more about the application?

    Rajesh---->>   we are designing an IOT gateway for tracking and this is used in outdoor environment like the top of the truck, car, etc.

                          we are using cap sense Button to on/off switch of our device. so we required toggle function for output means Device is on and anyone press switch one time then the device is off and hold this state till second-time press this button. 

       

     How many electrodes would you need, what are the dimensions?

    Rajesh--->  we need only one electrode for on/off our gateway device.

    Please share this ic is suitable for our application or not.

    Yes, I think that's the right device if I understand the requirements correctly.

    Is it a line or battery powered?

    We do have a technology guide with all info online. Below the chapter for moisture

    If you mean by "Toggle", that every time the button is touch, it should change the state (from ON to Off) and keep that status until the next touch,

    Yes it's possible.

    This part can be programmed in the application SW, once the CapTIvate detects a touch, the application defines what to do with that.

    For that you need a few lines of code in the SW.
