Hi Team,

I'm trying to use the RTC A module in 32bit counter mode. I want to setup RTC in a way that, each counter is incremented every 1us or 10us with input clock of 24Mhz.

Can you please explain the relation between the RT0PS count and the input clock? If i set RT0PS to some value, how does the clock input to 32bit counter is affected.

Hey Ashish,

I think this is show pretty well in Figure 22-1 of the MSP430F5xx Family User's Guide. Basically, RT0PS and RT1PS both 8 bit counters and can be used to divide the clock down (/256 max each). They can also be cascaded to give you a 16-bit counter (/65536 max).

I would stay in MHz for now, so your targets are 1us = 1MHz and 10us = 100khz.

The counters only divide in powers of 2. So the closest I think you could get to your target would me 24MHz/16 = 1.5MHz and 24MHz/256 = ~95kHz.

Thanks JD for the explanation. I had kind of same understanding but i thought by using divide counter we can achieve that so asked.
