MSP430F6745A: conversion clock speed for a 24-bit ADC

Part Number: MSP430F6745A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F67451A

Hi Team,

My customer likes to find out the limitation of conversion clock speed for a 24-bit ADC, can you share this with us? Only 10-bit ADC is available in the datasheet. Also cant find the power consumption in normal mode.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Renan

  • Section 5.16 appears to have the data you seek. Modulation clock frequency range (Table 5-39) and operating power. (Table 5-41)

  • Hi David,

Thanks for your help sincerely. But maybe it is my fault that I fail to express my question clearly. What is my want to know is the SAMPLE RATE of the 24-bit A/D in the MCU like MSP430F67451A series. I also just want to know the power consumption of THE CHIP NOT THE ADC at normal mode.

    Regards,

    Renan

  • The sample rate (rate at which input signal is sampled) is set by the modulator clock rate just like in any Sigma-Delta ADC. The output data rate depends on the over sampling setting of the ADC filter.  Both of those depend on your particular setup.

To get the power consumption of the entire chip you need to add up the power for all of the systems you are using.
