LPSTK-CC1352R: Bluetooth® forum

Part Number: LPSTK-CC1352R

I am using a LPSTK-CC1352R SensorTag and I am using the TI Starter App on an iPhone to see Sensor values.

I am seeing them in the main screen of the Starter App.

But I want to link to the IBM Watson IoT cloud platform.

I used the QuickStart cloud configuration and this works.

Next, I used a registered device with the Watson IoT platform and using the Starter App, I was able to connect to my device after registration only after making TLS optional for device connectivity. This was done on the IBM device configuration pages.

But I would like to connect with an encrypted connection and interestingly, there is a cloud configuration option labeled "Use SSL" with the starter app, but this option is disabled. At least I found no obvious way to enable it.

Must I add a certificate somehow to the Starter App to enable the option? If so, how do I add this certificate.

Thanks,

Jim

  • Hi Jim,

There is very limited experience on the BLE team with regards to having the CC1352 working with a cloud config portal. The only information i was able to find was this training portal but for a different device: https://training.ti.com/simplelink-wi-fi-sensortag-kit

I'll try to loop in someone from the wifi team that may have more experience.

  • No real info in this video regarding my case. I am not using the TI Sensortag App. I am using the TI authored Starter App. Available for iOS and Android. I happen to be using the iOS version.

This App provides a "Use SSL" option for cloud configuration which is apparently not working. You connect the lpstk tag to the app using BLE. Then the app on the phone connects to the cloud. I can make a cloud connection without SSL enabled. I want to enable it and the option seems to be there to do that. But I can't make it work.

Is there anyone around TI who knows the app?

Some of the launch videos from TI tout the Starter App for the lpstk platform and the Cloud connectivity options.

Surprising that the developers of the app aren't available for consultation. Perhaps it was contractor-built rather than in-house.

Maybe I am in the wrong forum?

    Jim
