MSP430FR2155: Does Gang-Pro really have no checksum options ???

Hi all together,

I am using FET-Pro 430 since years now. Very confident. I have added firmware check at startup into most of my firmwares (CRC16). When firmware detects checksum error it stops operation to avoid fatal errors. Now I am producing one of these products in larger amounts (thousands of pieces). We have purchased the Gang-Pro for this purpose. Its nice fast. However I am totally missing the checksum options. Is it correct that production programmer has no such options at all?

Are you talking about the MSP-GANG programmer at this webiste: https://www.ti.com/tool/MSP-GANG?keyMatch=MSP%20GANG&tisearch=Search-EN-everything?

From the user's guide of this programmer: MSP Gang Programmer (MSP-GANG) User's Guide (Rev. Q) we can see the checksum is there. Please refer to the section 2.1.1 in the page 14 for the details.

Dear Lixin,

yes I am talking about exactly this programmer. My intention is not only to see the checksum, but have it written in device memory for verification. Second problem is: I used to use CRC16 and not any arithmetic sum. With Fet-Pro this is a common function:

Hi,

The chapter 2.1.11 MSG-GANG user's guide describe the checksum calculation theory. There is only 32-bit CRC arithmetic. But if using 16-bit, the high word can be ignored since it is default 0xFF. So it is no problem to use both 32-bit and 16bit CRC. Please check your arithmetic is same as the description in 2.1.11.
