MSP430FR2433: Voltage on DVCC before power-up

Part Number: MSP430FR2433

Hi,

My customer is designing their board with MSP430FR2433.
On their board, they observed ~600mV voltage on DVCC before the device is power-up.

Customer found there is current leak from P1.0(used for VBUS monitor) to DVCC as below diagram.

Does this affect reliability of device?

Thanks and regards,
Koichiro Tashiro

  • Hello Koichiro,

The protection diode on the GPIO could see degradation with a sustained current.  I recommend fixing the issue that is sending current into the port.  Either sequencing the power so that MSP430 is powered first or maybe use a FET on the GPIO to block except when it is needed.
