MSP430FR5969: What is the minimum voltage requirement for MSP430FR5969 programming

Part Number: MSP430FR5969

Hi,

We are using MSP430FR5969 part in one of our product design. We are trying to power this IC with 1.8V power supply.

Could please let me know what is the minimum voltage required for flashing. Because in few MSP parts we seen more than 2.5V required for flashing. But in this part datasheet is not mentioned about minimum voltage requirement for flashing.

Please let us know the minimum voltage required for MSP430FR5969 part flashing???

Regards,

Pradeep

  • Pradeep,

because this device is not a FLASH device but based on FRAM programming is working until the lowest specified supply voltage.
This is the cool thing on FRAM besides that it costs much less power and you do not always have to erase before programming!

The minimum voltage is defined by the SVSH as pointed out in the datasheet.

FRAM device can not start under 2.0V. Your device can work on 1.8V, after it is powered up / reseted with minimum 2.0V.

Again, with FRAM 2.0V is minimum for this.

BTW, F5xx flash family can be flashed and used on 1.8V without isusse.

  • Hi,

this is what I stated before the SVSH power up release level defines the minimum voltage according datat sheet this is around 1.99V. So what you see is finally as specified.
