MSP430FR2633: how to avoid when touched capacitive pattern between 2 or more

Part Number: MSP430FR2633

Hi community member,

My customer evaluate MSP430FR2633 on their prototype board.
When they do a field test, the phenomenon occur as below:

Due to product restrictions, the size and placement of the pattern cannot be bigger or changing any further.
Do you think it can be avoided by software?
If there is the valid parameter against this phenomenon, please let us know.

Best regards.

  • Hello Cruijff,

It sounds like the touch threshold on the buttons are too low and allowing detection of the finger in between the sensors.

Here is the response when each sensor is touched.

Here is the response when finger in between and measurements are below threshold.

To avoid this issue increase the threshold.  You can think of it as noise, where  the measurements due to the finger located between the two sensors is the noise level.  You want to set the threshold above this noise level.

    Does this help?
