EVM430-F6779: How do we read out the code in MPS430 without destroying what's in memory

Part Number: EVM430-F6779
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F6779

Mainly my question is: please confirm that we can suck the program out of memory of the MSP430F6779 Eval board before we try programming it so we can always get back to go in case we make a mistake.

  • Hi Nicholas,

Do you have access to an MSP-FET430 programmer?

You should be able to use that with MSPFlasher program to read out any memory section non-destructively.

Although this software is no longer supported (meaning no bug fixes or future updates) you can still download and use it.

Else consider using Uniflash, which is a more sophisticated GUI version and can be run from the cloud (you don't need to install it).
