MSP430FR2355: adding MSP430 compiler to a CCS installation for radio

Hi everybody , 

I m on latest CCS10.2   and an installation  done only for  radio family CC26xx .  Now I need to add to same  installation  tools  to handle and compile   MSP430FR2355 .   

what I did is to relaunch CCS installation and  adding MSP430  , everything was ok .  

my issue is  > if a I create a new project  it looks like MSP430 compiler is missing . I did  also  compiler intsallation thorugh  APP center and also via install new SW  > NO way  I still get this error when launchingh a new project 

what can I do ?    I need to keep my existing  CCS installation for a radio project I have  , so I cannot  uninstall and reinstall

    Hi Carlo,

    Thanks for your detailed post.

    When you relaunched the CCS installer, selected MSP430 under Processor Support and clicked "Next", it should have shown you some components under "Compiler Tools" that include the TI MSP430 Compiler. My guess is that's automatically selected if MSP430 was selected earlier. Is there a chance it got deselected? After the installation, you may need to close and reopen CCS or even power cycle your PC. That may help too.

    In CCS, what's shown under the "Compiler version" after you click "Project" > "New"? Make sure you select the correct MSP430 target too. For me, the compiler is correctly shown as "TI v20.2.1.LTS".

    HI James ,

    I solved ... 

    basically  MSP430 compiler installed properly ( app center can see it ) ( I can also see in CCS  info etc )  BUT  everytime I open up project I get  the message 

    "No compilers are currently installed for this device-family. Click 'View > CCS App Center' to install a compiler before creating a project for this device"

    I rebooted PC many time , turn the discorvery many time at CCS at start  no way .

    what it solves  :  add manually this path to the "tool discovery path " ( the complete path including the version )   IT WORKS ! ( it works ONLY for the version selected no other MSP430  compiler found )   here what I added :  C:\ti\ccs1020\ccs\tools\compiler\ti-cgt-msp430_20.12.0.STS
