Hello,

We are using MSP430F2252 micro for our fire product and migrated from MSP430F2252 to MSP430F2272. The Micro(MSP430F2252) used to be upgraded by ATMEL MCU, means of BSL(UART) in MSP430F2252.

Our requirement now is ATMEL MCU should be able to differentiate these 2 micros (MSP430F2252,MSP430F2272) and flash the respective Binary in to the micros . I have reviewed the "

User’s Guide
MSP430™ Flash Devices Bootloader (BSL) it is mentioned that CHIP ID can be read from the BSL , but CHIP ID is same for both the micros(F227h). IS there any other means to differentiate these two micros.

Hello Swathi,

Sorry for the delay. I am looking into this and will get back to you by Monday. I believe these are the same or similar die, so some other register may be able to be checked for a difference. I need to dig into this.

Hello Swathi,

Some update here. The BSL cannot differentiate from the die ID between these devices. You may be able to differentiate by reading a non existent memory address in the lower memory device where it is expected you would read back a 0x3FFF.
