CCS/MSP430FR2632: CAPTIVATE sample program failed build due to not enough memory, need to take different perspective

Part Number: MSP430FR2632

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi Fourm,

So let's try this.

I am trying to incorporate 4 ITO touchscreen buttons into this device. I have read all the CAPTIVATE manuals, Design Center manual, etc., and the first time a sample Design Center 4 button design was entered into CCS9.2, the build compiled for 5 minutes, and then failed due to lack of memory (I presume greater than 8k code).

The front end program is already written, and I thought by switching to a CAPTIVATE processor I could easily incorporate 4 ITO touch screen buttons. So far, not so good.

Is there a better way to do this? Can just the core programs be loaded to work with my front end program, or is this only a stand alone only option?

How much memory does this take? The Design Center manual said something like 4k code. I think this must be twice that much and more?

Need some help here, thanks,

Robert.

  • I don't know much about CapTivate but I do recall one of the Launchpads had an Out Of Box application that would only fit on the chip if built with -O. (I guess it had a lot of stuff in it.) That might be worth a try.

  • Hi,

I creak 4 button project with FR2632. Here is the complied result:

It left about 2.8K for the customer, do you have many your own application code?

  • Thank you both for your replies,

I thought the CAPTIVATE path would be the way to go, but, oh my. When downloading the last update for CCS9.2, the restart failed again. I knew something could go wrong.

After a search this afternoon, I found a very simple, but very advanced, CY8CMBR3108, 4 capacitive touch input and output device. This will be all I need, with far less time involved.

    Thank you for your time!

    Robert.
