MSP-FET430U80 Debugger Error in Code Composite Studio V6: "MSP430: Error: MSP-FET430UIF Firmware erased - Bootloader active"

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-FET

Hello,

I'm in the process of trying to flash a microcontroller in Code Composer Studio 6. When I'm debugging the code, I get the following message:

Error initializing emulator:
A firmware update is required for the MSP430 Debug Interface (MSP-FET430UIF / MSP-FET / eZ-FET). Click the "Update" button to update the firmware and launch your debug session (this may require several update steps).

DO NOT UNPLUG THE INTERFACE DURING THE UPDATE.

Afterwards, I go to update it, only for the firmware update to stop, with the next error message appearing:

MSP430: Error: MSP-FET430UIF Firmware erased - Bootloader active

This happens every time I select the debugger in an attempt to flash the program onto the microcontroller. I don't know what the issue is, or how to solve it, so I'm looking for any advice that could help me solve this problem.

  • Hi Jayvin,

Are you running Windows, Linux or Mac?

You can also use the cloud version of CCS.  I would suggest making a simple program in the cloud CCS and let it try to download to your target and see if get the same problem.
