MSP430FR6047: Perform a frequency sweep in real time from another MCU

Hello,

I am working on water meter that uses the MSP for the readings and another to handle communication and management. So far the communication is working and I have added some custom commands. Now I would like my MCU to request a frequency sweep in order to change the frequency on the traducers connected in order to have the best fit for the traducers used in real time. I have not been able to find the specific command or the number of commands that are required to do so. Any assistance would be great.

Hello Nomikos,

We do not have a specific command to perform a frequency sweep. I believe that the GUI uses a sequence of commands when running the frequency sweep, but I need to look into the specific commands further and get back with you.

The frequency sweep is implemented in the GUI by sending a sequence of configuration commands followed by ADC captures. The max value of each ADC capture is used to generate the frequency sweep graphic. If, for example, you wanted to sweep from 900kHz to 1MHz in 10kHz steps, you would do the following:

1. Send a configuration for 900kHz excitation.

2. Request an ADC capture.

3. Calculate the max of the ADC capture.

4. Send a configuration which is 10kHz greater for the F1 transmit frequency than the existing configuration.

5. Repeat steps 2 to 4 9 more times.
