MSP430F5328: Power Sequencing

Part Number: MSP430F5328

Are there any power sequencing requirements, except for the requirement that AVCC / DVCC need to be within 0.3V of each other at all times? (power on/off and normal operation)

AVCCx / AVSSx, DVCCx/DVSSx, VCORE (just an external cap?), VSSU...?

  • Hi Darren,

The AVSSx, DVSSx and VSSU are all ground pins.

The VCORE usually uses the same power source with DVCCx. The only difference between them is the cap value. You can use the following figure as reference.

  • Hi Hao,

Just to clarify - for AVCC and DVCC, even if the device is held in reset, you still need to make sure the voltage is within 0.3V of each other at all times, right?

So if you hypothetically powered AVCC and DVCC from separate supplies, they would need to have the same rise/fall times, and be accurate over temp/process to within 0.3V of each other, right?

There are no other startup/power-down, restart requirements specific to the power pins besides this, right?

  • Hi Darren,

Yes, even if the device is held in reset, you still need to make sure the voltage is within 0.3V of each other at all time.

In fact, the AVCC and DVCC also uses the same power source in most cases, the differences will be using different cap values on each pins.

And you might need a bead or a resistance to separate the AVSS and DVSS. It all depends on your requirements.

    Best regards,

    Cash Hao
