TIDM-RF430-TEMPSENSE: Confirmation of Compatibility with 15693 Reader

Part Number: TIDM-RF430-TEMPSENSE
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: RF430FRL152H

Hello,

We have a customer inquiring about TIDM-RF430-TEMPSENSE and its compatibility with a 15693 Reader.
We've read through the TRM of the manual and it mentions that it supports ISO 15693.

He'd like to read the temperature from the TIDM-RF430-TEMPSENSE. So we've given him the TRM and the register setting on table 10-7 on page 214, and the formula for calculating the equivalent temperature in section 10.2.5 on page 201.

However, he said that "it seems that the temperature value can be read only using NFC and not just reading the transponder with a 15693 reader." This is an example of the reader he wants to use:http://www.stronglink-rfid.com/it/rfid-modules/sl015m3.html

May I please ask for your advice on this?

T
hank you,
Elisha

  • Hello Elisha,

Probably what happened is that the RF430FRL152H uses 8 byte wide block reads/writes unless configured for NFC mode (which is different from temperature sensor setup). So if the module doesn't support the tag by default (i.e. identifies it and knows to use 8 bytes) then it won't be able to communicate with it without an update.

The evaluation is recommended with the hardware listed in our FAQ guide: http://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/sloa247

This device would generally be used in a closed loop system.
