BOOSTXL-SENSHUB

This is my first experience with boards. Some of them might be dumb questions too. I post it here as I haven't received any response by submitting the same a Service Request.

Question 1: Texas Instruments Sensor Hub BoosterPack (BOOSTXL-SENSHUB) is an add-on board designed to fit the Tiva C Series TM4C123G LaunchPad along with all of TI's MCU LaunchPads . Can you confirm that for the Sensor Hub to work, I have to buy (TM4C123G LaunchPad + BOOSTXL-SENSHUB) ?

Question 2: I am assuming that you would provide the source code of Air mouse application which would serve a reference for my future development on this board.

Question 3: Will I be able to work with these boards using Mac(Apple) ..? Or would this work only for Windows. I mean the flashing tools that are needed to flash the binary on the board. Would you provide any documents for how to use the tools on Mac OS..?

Question 4: Am I qualified for any free sample or discount ?

Question 5: In the websitehttp://www.ti.com/tool/BOOSTXL-SENSHUB, there are 2 prices BOOSTXL-SENSHUB: Sensor Hub BoosterPack $49.99(USD) SENSHUBPACK-123G: Sensor Hub BoosterPack $49.99(USD) What is the difference between the 2 of them..?]

The Launchpad/Boosterpack echo system of development/evaluation boards is designed such that boosterpacks are add-ons to the launchpads to provide specific functionality not covered by the Launchpad itself. So, yes, for the boosterpack to work, you will need a Launchpad to go with it. This boosterpack was design specifically to work with the TM4C123G Launchpad as you have pointed out from the product description but others such as the TM4C129 Launchpads will work with it as well.

I am not certain why you would assume as a silicon manufacturer we would provide code for a specific application such as this. We do however, provide example code of how to use the board and it's features (within the TivaWare installation files). It would be up to you to adapt our examples to your specific needs and develop your own application. Of course, we are here on the E2E forum to provide answers should questions arise.

CCS and associated TM4C debug drivers (ICDI Drivers)  have been ported to work on iOS. However, there may be some work arounds necessary for some of the other tools such as the TivaWare installer which is currently an executable zip file which will not work on iOS but could be extracted with an unzip utility as far as I can tell. LM Flashprogrammer would not work on iOS. So, in short, it is possible to develop in a Mac(Apple) platform but some work arounds and limitations may still exist.

Based on the information provided here, I would have to say no. However, I am not the right person to authorize such give aways anyway. I would recommend reaching out to either your local TI sales support or a distributor to see if they could offer anything to you based on your business case.

If you click on the order now button for each you would have received the answers to your question. The BOOSTXL-SENSHUB orderable part number is the stand alone booster pack that one can pair with the TM4C123G Launchpad. The SENSHUBPACK-123G is a bundle package offered exclusively on TI.com that includes both the sensor hub booster pack and the TM4C123G Launchpad. As observed on the detail page, it is currently on sale being discounted from 59.99 USD to 49.99 USD which is the same price as the booster pack itself. Effectively the Launchpad is given for free at this price.

Hopefully these answers help and you are off to happy developing with the TM4C devices.

  • Very well done Mr. Davenport.    I'd click, "Verified Answer" if the forum SW allowed it...

Poster may note that the "business case" justification is very much normal/customary in the semi-conductor industry.

If you can "bond" w/local Sales office or disty - and/or demonstrate that your efforts will lead to substantial vendor sales - much good often results.   If a student - it's likely that you'll need to enlist a teacher - and broaden your appeal from "individual" to "entire class."

The "deal" which Mr. Davenport noted seems quite good & places less demand on you/your group...   (yet still - that "bonding" can prove most worthwhile...)
