EK-TM4C123GXL: How to recover LaunchPad's ICDI board

Part Number: EK-TM4C123GXL

Hello,

I guess I downloaded wrong program to ICDI board (not to a target board) on my Launch Pad.

When I connect ICDI board part, nothing is detected in a device driver list.

How to recover ICDI board?

Is there any way to use LM Flash Programmer using ICDI binary file

or any other tools or software to recover this?

Thanks,

Sky.

  • Hi,

Can you first explain me how you corrupt the ICDI debug probe firmware by accident?

Are you sure the ICDI firmware is corrupted? Can you try with another PC and see if you can see the ICDI in the Windows device driver?

If you are sure the ICDI firmware is corrupted you can use the LM flash programmer to update it.

  • Thanks for rapid reply!

    Q) Can you first explain me how you corrupt the ICDI debug probe firmware by accident?

    A) I remember that I tested DFU program using dfuprog.exe and overwrite them into ICDI board.

    Q) Are you sure the ICDI firmware is corrupted? Can you try with another PC and see if you can see the ICDI in the Windows device driver?

    A) I have two normal launchpads and they works well (it means that it recognizes ICDI driver properly), but when I connect an abnormal launchpad, nothing is shown in my device drivers.

    Q) If you are sure the ICDI firmware is corrupted you can use the LM flash programmer to update it.

    A) When I follow the instruction as you mentioned, it shows error message "**ERROR**: Failed to connect to ICDI deivce"

I guess I need another solution to recover this board.

    Thanks,

    Sky.

  • Hi Sky,
Unfortunately, the ICDI debug probe is most likely bricked. You may try to replace the Debug TM4C123 chip but to get it soldered down may cost you more time than buying another LaunchPad.
