TM4C1230D5PM: No pwm output after refrigeration for 2 hours at -20 °C

Part Number: TM4C1230D5PM

Dear team

My customer is using TM4C1230D5PM. They found that No pwm output after refrigeration for 2 hours at -20 °C.

However, the normal display and buttons of other io ports are also used normally. The PWM worked well after the chip is restarted.

PS:

Normal temperature and high temperature are no problem, that is, -20 ° C refrigeration start up this problem

Please check it

BR,

SUSAN

  • Is this a single device, or do they see this behavior on multiple devices? Which pin? What frequency and duty cycle? What is the PWM pin driving?

  • Any update?

  • Is it not likely that (both) the requesting vendor agent & the MCU ... are seeking, "Heat?"

    We 'second' your requesting:

    • rough percentage of devices/boards so afflicted
    • has the PWM 'frequency or duty cycle' (approached) operational limits?

And - it is 'unclear' as to 'where' the PWM output has 'gone missing?'    It may be the output/power stage (as these are  most often easier to probe) than the MCU pin(s) -  and likely available 'off-board.'     Thus  the power stage - not the MCU -  (may) prove the culprit.

Depending upon the nature of the (assumed) power stage being driven (by the PWM) it may prove desirable (or even mandatory) to, 'Increase the Output drive current' of those MCU pins delivering PWM.

Also - there is no mention of 'possible condensation' - often encouraged via the use of 'improper board cleaning agents.'   (fine pitch devices (i.e. the MCU) are  especially vulnerable to, 'conductive residue!')

Each of your & our  'guidance/suggestions' -  especially those 'External to the MCU'  have been, 'Noted in the Real World' - thus warrant user's focused attention...

  • Good stuff here - I like your analytical and debugging skills!  Perhaps developed and honed by that previous profession;-)

    Dave,

    What - you 'discount' my:

    • Defeat of the ankle bracelet
    • Escape from the mental institution
    • Outlasting the 'restraining order'
    • and 'Public Service' (under court order - satisfied by 'time spent here')

Might your 'likes' require (some) adjustment?

  • Since I have not heard back from you I assume that this issue has been resolved. If not, please respond to this thread or ask a new related question.
