I have a board in production with a TIVA microcontroller paired with one of the recommended crystal oscillators, the NX3225GA-25.000M-STD-CRG-2. However, this part is getting hard to find in stock, so I am considering replacing it by the NX3225SA-25.000M-STD-CSR-6.
By checking the specs, it seems to me that the replacement can't possibly go wrong. However, I also got the impression that crystal oscillator compatibility is always tricky, so I want to know if I am missing something. Here's what I did as due diligence:
- Both are 25MHz crystals with the same footprint (duh). The old package is a little taller, and that is not a problem for me
- Same load capacitance (8pF)
- Same max. equivalent series resistance (50 ohms)
- Same level of drive (10uW) and max. level of drive (200uW)
- The replacement is strictly better in terms of frequency tolerance (15/25ppm versus 20/30ppm)
- Both are specced to operate at the fundamental frequency ("Overtone Order: Fundamental")
- Same storage and operating temperature
- Both are RoHS compliant, but only the new one is fully Pb free
Is there anything am I missing? Is that enough to say it will work?
