DRV8353RH-EVM: ISO-F28027F in Isolation Mode

Hello Matt,

Customer is now able to use the ISO F28027 in standalone mode as you explained.

However, they are now in a bit of a dilemma. For future applications of the board they need to use the serial ports, so that they can get some info in the ISO, but they have the DRV8353RH and not its series connection "twin" DRV8353RS. Is there any way to modify something in the circuitry and allowing serial data as input in the board?

Apologies for the late response for I was awaiting feedback from the customer.

They are asking for further explanation on how to select a different chip select signal? Customer is working with simulink.

Hi Art,

A SPI serial interface needs a chip select to indicate to the target device that communication is happening. This pin is tied directly to the DRV835x, so you cannot use this pin for any external SPI communication. If the customer is willing to make board modifications they could cut the trace on the board so they can keep using the pin.

We're are not the experts on C2000 or simulink, so I can loop in the team responsible to field the question if you think that will help.

F28027F only has one SPI, but customer can use a GPIO to simulate the SCS for SPI.

Customer might take a look at the link below that has more introduction about Simulink with C2000.

You might take a look at the schematic of the DRV8353Rx-EVMs or the datasheet of the DRV8353, connect the pin to Vdcbus as the VM pin.

Customer was grateful for the answer.

According to him, he have been working with the schematic and the datasheet and trying to find the fault but is unsuccessful. He found out that the problem is in the driver, because when he send the pwm signals properly he does not measure the desired signals in ghX and glX. However, he measure nothing in GHA and GHB, but is getting a triangular signal in GHC, with same frequency as PWM. MOTA is equal to GHA when he measure it, independently of VM.

Any suggestions?
