DRV2510-Q1: Recommendation of motor driver IC

Part Number: DRV2510-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV2511-Q1, DRV8706-Q1

Hi team,

My customer would like to find a motor driver IC such as the following spec.

It is used for motorcycle to lock / unlock. I browser TI website and find 2 ICs (DRV2510-Q1 / DRV2511-Q1) which seems for this function.

Could you suggest the correct motor driver IC for it?

  • Hi Feng,

My understanding of the lock/unlock functionality is basically the PWM duty cycle changing from 80% to 20%? Or how is it changing polarity +/-?
DRV2510-Q1 and DRV25110-Q1 may be applicable, although these are purposed for haptic actuators so these are similar to audio amplifiers.
Perhaps based on the functionality requirements some other motor driver could be considered?

  • Hi Ivan,

Yes. Customer and I are both new at motor drive application. So, they are not sure whether DRV2510-Q1 is applicable or not.

I have checked the EERD of door module at ti.com. They recommend the DRV8706-Q1 which is brushless motor drive.

Would you think that it is suitable for customer motor drive IC's spec? Or any other suggestion

Sorry, I am not very familiar with motor drive IC.

  • Hi Feng,

Due to the kind of signal that will be driving the motor I would suggest brushless motor drive if it matches the motor customer is using, there are other options if motor is bushed.
