DRV8432: SLUG - Internal connection?

Part Number: DRV8432

Dear MD experts,

In order to avoid ground loops or any unexpected ground paths from the internal ground/0V line it would be great knowing is the slug is internally connected to GND or if the die is isolated from the slug?

If the slug is essentially isolated from the die, then there is no need worrying about an insulating pad and a better thermal grease for heat conduction can be applied..

  • Hello, Bond,

    Repost Ryan's comment:

There is a resistive connection to GND.  Thermal grease is recommended.  It can be conductive grease if the heat sink is floating or connected to GND.  If connected to any other potential, it needs to be insulated.

     Best Regards,
