DRV8874: Use related issues

Part Number: DRV8874

Hi Team,

1. Can this drive chip be adjusted in speed?

2. Where to input PWM in PWM Control Mode? There is not much difference between this mode and PH/EN mode in the specification, it seems that they are both high and low level adjustments. Is there no PWM speed control similar to stepper motor drive?

Thanks,

Annie

  • Hi Annie,

Yes. speed control for a brushed DC motors relies on toggling the input signals (following the control logic table on the datasheet) at a fixed frequency and adjusting the duty cycle to increase or decrease the motor speed.

You can have speed control for both PWM and PH/EN by toggling the signals at a fixed frequency and varying duty cycle.
