DRV8899-Q1: CTRL5 Control Register

Part Number: DRV8899-Q1

EN_SR_BLANK bits are recommended to be set to "1" when controlled in Smart tune Dynamic Decay mode.
How do I use it? Also, please tell me why.

  • Teauka-san,

CTRL5 register is a reserved register. Where do you find "EN_SR_BLANK" bit in DRV8899-Q1?

  • sorry. I made a mistake in the part number. The correct name is DRV8889A.Regards,

  • Teauka-san,

Set "EN_SR_BLANK" =1 when controlled with slow-slow or either smart tune decay modes.

Either smart tune decay could have slow-decay operating. Additional blanking time is beneficial in case the stepper motor has excessive parasitic coil capacitance. Also, the blanking time can avoid the switching noise on the current sensing circuit during the power FET turn-on.

For example: when  SLEW_RATE [1:0]=00b, the slew rate is 10v/us. With the highest input voltage 45V, the turn-on time is about 4.5us. 5.6us blanking time can avoid the switching noise in to the current sensing circuit.
