Hi team,

My customer plan to design an electronic lock for server cabinets. They have select the Lock, like this

DC 12V, 1.4A; And they need a motor driver for driving the motor of lock. Please help me to find a suitable driver for this situation, thanks.

And I find our new device DRV8212 may can use, please help check and recommend our most suitable device, thanks.

Best regards,

Andy Liu

  • Hi Andy,

The recommended abs max for the DRV8212 is 11V and the absolute abs max is 12-V. if there are any voltage spikes above 12-V, it may cause voltage overstress on the device which may cause damage. For higher voltage ratings, I recommend the DRV8220 which has a max operating voltage of 18-V and current of 1.76-A. The DRV8220 is part of the same family of low power drivers as the DRV8212 so it has the same functionality and safety features.

If possible, can you share who the customer is and if they have other requirements for their applications like current sensing etc. you can send me a private message if there is any sensitive information you don't wish to share in the public forum. You can also post to the internal forum.
