DRV8881: DRV8825 as DRV8881P P2P compatible assembly option

Part Number: DRV8881
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8825

Hi team,

My customer is considering if DRV8825 can be used as DRV8881P P2P compatible assembly option.

Do you think it is possible?

My customer thinks the interface pins (#21-24) can be switched by modifying FPGA program.

However, the pins #12-14 have different order.

Do you have any idea to deal with these pins?

How much current will the GND (DRV8825 pin#14 or DRV8881P pin#12) source?

Best regards,

Itoh

  • Itoh-san,

DRV8825 has two ground pins and 2.5A peak current setting. I would think the GND pin (DRV8825 pin#14 or DRV8881P pin#12) could be similar as the B-bridge load current since ISENSB pin is close to that ground. For example: one motor coil is connected on A-bridge output and the peak current is 1A; another motor coil is connected on B-bridge output and the peak current is about 1.5A. I would think the GND (DRV8825 pin#14 or DRV8881P pin#12) may take about 1.5A. But, this could be affected by the layout trace length.

I think we have to put one power resistor and one small resistor for Pin#12 and Pin#14 to swap the GND and xVREF signal.
