DRV10987: U-phase waveform of DRV10987 and Integrated FET withstand voltage question.

Hi, TI expert.

The customer applies DRV10987, and when the U , V , W phase connectors are attached or detached during motor operation,

there is a phenomenon that the voltage jumps to about 43.2Vmax when measuring the U phase.

Q1) What would be the problem?  If you look at the datasheet, the spec is Max 30V, is there any problem?

      If it's a problem, is there any way to improve it?

Q2) Additionally, can you confirm what the withstand voltage of the integrated FET unit of DRV10987 is?

    Thanks for posting your question in MD forum. You are seeing a transient voltage spike for few µs when the motor phases are attached/detached. When the motor is attached or detached to the device, there will be a huge inrush current causing these transient spikes and this is a natural phenomenon. Since this transient spike exists only for few µs, this might not damage the device but if this is done repeatedly then the phase pins might get overstressed and damaged. It is not recommended to detach or attach the motor phases during motor operation.
