DRV8825: Data needed not in datasheet

Part Number: DRV8825

Hello Team,

Good day.

My customer wanted to know if we have data for the load Capacitance, Input Capacitance for DRV8825? This is not present in the datasheet.

Thanks in advacne.

Regards,

Renan

  • Hello Renan,

I will be happy to help you out today. I have talked to our systems team and load capacitance and input capacitance are not something we document, typically because they usually are not that relevant to the design. May I ask why the customer wants these measurements?

Additionally, would you happen to know at which point they want to know the input capacitance? If they are they referring to the power supply then it can be infinite. If they are referring to the input pins then the higher the capacitance the higher the delay will be between the input signal and the output as you would have to wait for the capacitor to charge and discharge.

For the load capacitance the only thing you would have to worry about is current threshold for Over Current Protection, and the deglitch time for overcurrent protection. If there is too much capacitance on the load this could trigger it. We do not recommend a capacitor bigger than 1nF on the output or it might trigger an OCP fault.

Let me know if there is anything else you may need or if you have more information to better help me find the right information for the customer, I'm always happy to help.

    Best,

    Pedro Arango Ramirez
