DRV8256PEVM: DRV8256PEVM: Wrong ic? 0.5A “AIFS”?

Part Number: DRV8256PEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8436

Hi,

I purchased a DRV8256PEVM development board kit to test the PWM ic DRV8256P.

The development board chip is labeled “P3DRV8436”

Was an incorrect ic placed on this board? The DRV8436 is a different stepper motor driver.

I downloaded and installed the “DRV89xxP_DRV8256xEVM Software – SLOC365.ZIP” from https://www.ti.com/tool/DRV8256PEVM

The GUI is limiting me to 0.5A “AIFS” and I can't find a way to adjust it. If this is the correct ic, why am I being limited to 0.5A on an 8A peak ic?

Best Regards

BB
